So no one told you that there were secret plans for another Friends spin-off? Well, you aren’t alone, because most folk were under the impression Joey put paid to all that.
Apparently not though, because In Touch is reporting that co-creator Marta Kaufman has been in serious discussions with one of the show’s original stars about a possible continuation.
However, In Touch is reporting that Kudrow has been talking to Kaufman “about a Phoebe Buffay spin-off”. The pair, who are currently working together on the Netflix series Grace and Frankie, have reportedly been brainstorming ideas around the show.
An insider even offered an update on Phoebe’s post-Friends situation and it’s kind of depressing.
The source claimed Phoebe would probably be divorced now and living back in NYC. It’s only natural that she would occasionally bump into her old Central Perk gang.”
Wait, Phoebe and Mike divorced? Well that kind of sucks. Fans will of course be hoping that any possible spin-off ends up being more Frasier and less Joey.
Joey, starring Matt LeBlanc, ran for two seasons and a total of 46 episodes, eight of which were never aired with the series cancelled midway through it’s second run.
Frasier, by contrast, lasted 11 seasons and 264 episodes though is probably a show Kudrow would rather forget – she was cast as Roz in the original pilot only to be replaced by Peri Gilpin when the show was picked up.
