Pierluigi Collina. David Elleray. Howard Webb. When it comes to top tier referees none of the big hitters are lookers.
That could soon be about to change if one Amy Christophers gets her way. The 29-year-old used to be a glamour model, notching up topless and scantily clad shots for Page 3, Nuts and Zoo.
Amy even graced the pages of Loaded back in our magazine days. She was ‘Rear of the Year’ for 2008/09, in case you were wondering.
After a decade going under the name Brandy Brewer, she’s is now forging a new career as a sports presenter and looks on target to become a top flight official.
After getting her first FA refereeing qualification at the start of 2016, she’s hoping to follow in the footsteps of Sian Massey-Ellis and Wendy Toms.
“I’ve always loved football and thought becoming a referee would be a great way to get closer to the action,” The Sun quotes her as saying.
“There aren’t enough women being represented and it’s fantastic to show that girls can do it just as well.
“This isn’t just a hobby, it’s a passion. I take this very seriously.
“I absolutely love it and I’m improving with every game. The Premier League would be a dream but I’m just excited to see how far I can get.”
Don’t expect to see her clamping down on tackles at Stamford Bridge anytime soon, though. Amy’s a dedicated Chelsea fan, meaning it’s unlikely she’ll be officiating Antonio Conte’s men.
