A new study has been revealed which suggests a surprisingly large percentage of people fantasise about having sex with an ex-partner.
While the majority of people would never admit to it, it’s estimated that a LOT of us think back to intimate times with an ex-partner when thinking about sex.
4,500 people took part in a study by Lovehoney, which found that 58% of guys revisit sexual experiences with an old flame from time to time.
Perhaps more surprisingly, 48% of women fantasise about having sex with previous partner, even when they’re in a relationship.
However, these tendencies are not necessarily shared when it comes to masturbation.
While a quarter of men say they ‘often’ revisit former experiences during masturbation, only 19% say they do the same, with 52% saying they never think of their ex.
Sex expert Tracey Cox spoke about the findings of the study, saying that fantasies can actually play positive roles in relationships.
“I have always been a staunch supporter of fantasising guilt-free. Fantasies allow monogamous couples to get all the pleasure of ‘new’ sex without the pain of broken hearts and relationship,” she said.
“Most people have the odd struggle balancing the pros of monogamy (history, soul mate connection, love, comfort, kids, support) with the cons (having to say no to temptation because just because you’re in love doesn’t mean you don’t find others attractive). A rich fantasy life can offer the solution to keeping everyone happy.”
