The sun is shining and the days are long which can really only mean one thing when you get to the bar: it’s cocktail time.
Yet even the cockiest of cocktail connoisseurs would readily admit that, when it comes to selecting the ideal drink pairing for a long, hot session in the sun, the sheer array of options can sometimes come off a little intimidating.
Fear not, good friends, because here at loaded we’ve put together a list of four mighty fine, must-drink cocktail options to help you while away those evenings and weekends in the company of your similarly intoxicated brethren.
This isn’t just about getting sloshed either – these are four fine cocktails you are going to want to drink again and again and again.
The Kentucky Mule
What you need: 2 ml Wild Turkey Bourbon, ¾ ml ginger syrup, ¾ ml fresh squeezed lime juice, dash of Angostura bitters, soda water
How you make it: Add first four ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake, and strain over ice into highball glass and top off with soda water. Garnish with lime and mint sprig. Or keep it really simple and just add ginger beer to your Wild Turkey Bourbon and a squeeze of fresh lime and you are done.
The Rusty Nail
The Rusty Nail sits alongside the Martini and the Old Fashioned as one of the classics of the cocktail world, with a sweetness that makes it surprisingly accessible. Its origins in the bars and clubs of 50s New York lends old-school style and sophistication to the drink.
How you make it: Build over ice in a rocks glass and stir. Garnish with a lemon twist
