MotoGP™ returns to Silverstone on August 30 – September 1, when the UK’s premier motor sport venue hosts the 2013 British Grand Prix. With spectacular action guaranteed, Silverstone has developed a weekend festival for bike fans. Packed with on and off track entertainment for all the family, the programme includes air displays, the Animal Action Sports Tour, Rookie Ride taster sessions, Kiddimoto and live bands playing throughout the weekend, plus rider appearances at the post-race Grand Prix Party.
Cal Crutchlow, who in 2012 became the first British rider in 12 years to finish on the MotoGP™ podium, is joined by Bradley Smith this season, forming an all-British rider line-up for the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 team, and Michael Laverty is also flying the Union Jack flag in the premier class riding for Paul Bird Motorsport. A wealth of young British riders will also be out to impress in the highly competitive Moto2 and Moto3 classes, including Scott Redding who is leading the Moto2 standings and will be aiming to win in his home race.
This season also marks the highly-anticipated return of nine-time World Champion Valentino Rossi to Silverstone with Yamaha, alongside 2012 Silverstone winner and reigning World Champion Jorge Lorenzo. Britain’s Cal Crutchlow will be hoping to outpace both of them to achieve his first MotoGP™ win in front of the home crowd at Silverstone.
