Microsoft has debuted its new Xbox One. This is the company’s first gaming console in eight years and will come with exclusive video and software content.
A highlight of Xbox One includes a Halo series produced by Academy Award-winning director Steven Spielberg.
Xbox One will hit retail stores later this year at a still-unknown price. The device’s launch on Tuesday comes after months of intense speculation on industry blogs about its potential new features.
Microsoft representatives said it interacts with television, responds to voice and gesture commands, and enables Skype video calling. It will also be the first gaming platform to release the next instalment of the Call Of Duty warfare game franchise.
Microsoft hopes this third-generation console, four years in the making, will draw gamers back to the stationary platform, as mobile gaming has taken an increasing market share in recent years.
The Xbox One’s primary competition will come from Nintendo’s new Wii U device and Sony’s forthcoming PlayStation 4.
