Britain has a long and distinguished history of giving inappropriate names to things.
It’s part of what makes the UK such a source of constant amusement and no where is this more evident than in some of the places found up and down the country.
Obviously these places earned their names in entirely different times when these words may have, perhaps, meant something different. But that doesn’t stop them being hilarious today.
Here are just 17 of the rudest place names in the UK and where to find them.
Beaver Close, Surrey
Always good to know…
Bell End, Rowley Regis
An undisputed classic.
Is this a place name or a warning to dangerous drivers?
Fanny Avenue, Derbyshire
Looks like it could do with a trim…
Fine Bush Lane, Ruislip
What a compliment…
Hornyold Road, Malvern, Worcestershire
The somewhat less successful follow-up to “Dirty Old Town”.
Jackass Lane, Kent
Piers Morgan’s home address.
Minge Lane, Upton-upon-Severn, Worcestershire
A very misleading name.
Sounds incredibly painful.
Pratt’s Bottom, London Borough of Bromley
Who was Pratt and what was so special about their bottom?
The reviews are in…
Sandy Balls, New Forest
Well if they will insist on going to the beach…
Scratchy Bottom, Dorset
A common complaint.
Apparently it’s a very nice place.
Slag Lane, Merseyside
Someone clearly had an axe to grind.
Sluts Hole Lane, Norfolk
Well, it is Norfolk after all…
This sign is just screaming out for comedy photo opportunities.

Better yet, why not give this collection of 15 images of things that might look dodgy at first but are actually perfectly innocent. Honest.
